“Wish for the Best”
by Dr. Larry Morris
Three men, a New Yorker, an Albuquerquean and a man from Borger, Texas, were shipwrecked and stranded on a desert island for a year. One day they happened to find an old lamp buried in the sand. When they rubbed it, a genie appeared who said, "Usually I give whoever rubs this lamp three wishes, but there are three of you—I will give each of you one wish." The New Yorker spoke up and said, "I wish to be at my favorite restaurant in New York City will all of my friends." There was a poof! and the New Yorker disappeared. The second man said, "I wish to be at my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque with all of my friends." There was another poof! and the Albuquerquean disappeared. The man from Borger thought and thought. Finally, the genie said, "Well my friend, what is your wish?" "Gee, I don't know. I can't think of anything. I wish those other two guys were here to help me decide."
The universe responds to our deepest wishes but only when we know what we really want. Let's wish for the Highest for ourselves and our world this new year.
