“Making Two Into One”

A businessman once said to a sage, "My job in life is taking one thing and making of it two.” The sage replied, "My job in life is making one out of two.” Like the sage, can we, when we are confronted by division or duality, see the unity within the situation? Often we go around expecting conflict and discord from people or situations in our lives. But there is always a point where we can recognize a basic harmony in any situation. We may have to change our viewpoint from two-ness or duality and adopt a perspective of oneness before the situation will reveal its inherent harmony and order to us. We can live from One Presence and find that our life is filled with peace now.
