“Breathless Joy”

by Dr. Larry Morris

I recently participated in a very elaborate and formal wedding ceremony. Several hundred people were in attendance. The wedding party itself had around 30 people, dressed in very elaborate outfits. Everything seemed very ornate and ceremonial except for the young bride and groom. These two were so lost in their love, they were so filled with excitement, that they were oblivious to all the formality and pomp around them. When I reached the point in the wedding ceremony where I asked the groom if he took the bride to be his wife and if she took him to be her husband, they were both so breathless with joy that neither could speak—to the amusement of all. This joyous couple just nodded their YES to a new life. Sometimes we too need to be so filled with joy that we are beyond speech and oblivious to circumstances.
